BIM Africa Initiative is a civil society organization driving the digital transformation of Africa’s built environment. It promotes and regulates Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Despite BIM’s benefits, its adoption in Africa is slow due to a lack of awareness.
Our mission is to foster a collaborative voice for digital transformation, support academic and market research, engage volunteers for local representation, promote BIM awareness and training, partner with professional bodies, and advise governments on BIM policies.
Our goals are to educate over 500,000 African construction entities on BIM, advocate for BIM policies in at least three African countries, and develop and promote standards and research for effective BIM implementation.
BIM Africa supports BIM adoption through research programs, certification, events, and the annual BIM Africa Summit (BAS). The biennial African BIM Report (ABR) assesses digital technology progress in construction.
