Mandilas Group, through the John Basil Mandilas Foundation, has formalized a strategic partnership with Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industry requirements. The collaboration, delivered via the Mandilas Academy, targets the training of 75 students in structured phases. The inaugural cohort of 25 participants will undergo one month of intensive technical instruction followed by two months of hands-on industry attachment. This initial phase focuses specifically on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), a sector currently experiencing high demand across Nigeria’s infrastructure landscape.

Central to this initiative is the integration of global standards in energy efficiency and sustainable cooling solutions. By exposing trainees to modern HVACR tools and environmentally responsible practices, the program prepares a workforce capable of supporting greener infrastructure systems. The partnership is designed to align with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) requirements, offering certifications that prioritize verified competency over traditional paper credentials.

For Yabatech, which enrolls over 36,000 students, this MoU supports its "ERECT Agenda" for graduate empowerment and curriculum relevance. Mandilas Group, leveraging over 70 years of engineering heritage, aims to transform the Academy into a West African center of excellence for HVAC-R training. This industry-academia model not only secures a talent pipeline for Mandilas but also contributes to Nigeria’s broader economic resilience and industrial growth.
